The Maritime Assessment Centre is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Capital Health. The QEII Health Sciences Centre is the major hospital for the region, and is a part of a group of organizations known as Capital Health. Capital Health provides a range of health services to people in the Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia.
All English-speaking nurses who are required to complete a competence assessment for the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia, Association of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island or the Nurses Association of New Brunswick must come to the Assessment Centre. We do not do competence assessments overseas, nor can any portion of the assessment be completed online or via distance. Internationally educated nurses may complete the competence assessment on a visitor visa, or any other type of permanent or temporary immigration status. We do not offer immigration advice, but will provide documentation to help visa applications.

For francophone nurses required to complete a competence assessment for the Nurses Association of New Brunswick, the competence assessments are conducted in Edmundston, New Brunswick at our French Assessment Centre Satellite Site.
