Critical Care Paramedic Program
We are excited to launch the Critical Care Paramedic Program! This exceptional course prepares Advanced Care Paramedics (ACPs) to work in a variety of critical care settings and upon completion, seek licensure from the College of Paramedics of Nova Scotia (CPNS) as a Critical Care Paramedic (CCP). The Critical Care Paramedic Program (CCPP) will stretch your understanding of critical care theoretical concepts and best practice guidelines.
By gaining a broader insight of factors which influence safe care and by increasing sensitivity in relation to interprofessional team work and patient & family centered care, you will become more proficient in providing high quality, safe and effective, person centered care in critical care practice environments.
This competency based educational program uses conceptual learning strategies and includes self-directed web-based modules supported by a high-level of interactive e-learning learning using our online platform Brightspace. Discussion boards and case studies mirror the uniqueness of critical care paramedic practice. A study schedule and regular communication with faculty will keep you on track with your studies.
Group discussion, either face-to-face or via web conferencing, along with skills and simulation sessions are woven throughout the program. This clinical learning, lasting approximately 168 hours, is provided in both pre-hospital and hospital based critical care environments of practice in Nova Scotia. You will be matched with a designated preceptor who will supervise the clinical experience under the guidance of the CCPP faculty.
